The natural proteins, sugars, and hop-derived compounds in the beer enhance the soap’s performance by increasing lather, resulting in a richer, creamier foam that feels luxurious on the skin. What is it made from: Rapeseed (canola) Oil – Palm Free
Properties: BTMS-80 is a conditioning emulsifier derived from natural plant oils, widely used in haircare for its excellent detangling and softening properties. In haircare, it helps smooth and condition the hair, reduce frizz, and improve manageability without leaving a heavy or greasy feel. It also helps bind oil and water in formulations, making it ideal for creamy conditioners and leave-in treatments.

Properties: Citric acid is a key ingredient in bath bombs, responsible for creating their signature fizz when combined with baking soda in water. In skincare formulations, citric acid is also used as a pH adjuster, helping to balance products so they are gentle and effective on the skin. Properties: Polysorbate 80 is a water-soluble emulsifier commonly used in bath bombs to help blend oils, fragrances, and colourants evenly into the bathwater. It prevents oils from floating on the surface and reduces the risk of colour clinging to the skin or staining the tub. By dispersing ingredients thoroughly, it ensures a more luxurious and skin-conditioning soak. Polysorbate 80 also enhances the overall appearance and performance of bath bombs, creating a smooth, even fizz with no greasy residue.

Properties: Rich in Vitamin E, monounsaturated fatty acids, proteins, potassium, zinc, B-complex vitamins, and iron. A renowned emollient, almond oil also helps to balance moisture loss. This is a light oil that can easily penetrate the skin and is safe for use on sensitive skin. Sweet Almond Oil rejuvenates tired muscles, reduces fine lines and signs of aging, relieves eczema, psoriasis, skin rashes, nappy rash, chafed skin, and contact dermatitis. Protects the skin by reducing the deterioration and increasing the formation of collagen; it can also help to repair some of the damage done to collagen. Makes a good carrier oil for dispersing powders in soap.

What is it made from: A blend of natural essential oils, including Lavender
Properties: This fragrance oil has a combined scent of lavender, bergamot, and cedar to give the Kawakawa Lavender Bath Bombs a lovely floral classic lavender scent.

Properties: Madder root powder is a natural botanical colourant often used in soap to achieve shades ranging from soft pinks to deep reds, depending on the amount used and the oils in the recipe. Derived from the roots of the Rubia tinctorum plant, it’s valued for creating rich, earthy tones without synthetic dyes. In addition to its colouring properties, madder root adds a rustic, artisanal touch to handmade soaps. It can be infused into oils or added directly to soap batter, offering natural beauty and a warm, vibrant hue. It is dispersed in Sweet Almond Oil to make the soap red.
