Winter brings many cozy joys – think hot chocolate, woolly socks, and crackling fires. But it also comes with dry air and indoor heating, which can do a number on your skin. If you’re noticing cracked heels, flaky hands, or eczema flare-ups, you’re not alone.

Here are 4 winter skincare tips to help soothe, protect, and heal your skin – naturally.

💚 1. Balm Up: Lock in Moisture

Opt for ultra-rich, occlusive balms that do more than moisturise—they seal in hydration and shield skin from harsh elements.

If you’re dealing with painful cracks (ouch!), apply a thick layer of balm – like our Kawakawa Healing Balm – and slip on cotton socks overnight. Do this for a week and you’ll wake up to soft, healed skin.

Bonus tip: Cracked cuticles and over hangs? Apply a soothing oil to them nightly, give them a good rub and massage. Within a week you will notice the difference!

🧼 2. Don’t Strip Your Skin with Soap

Not all soaps are created equal. Many commercial options are packed with harsh detergents that strip away your skin’s natural oils, leaving it tight and itchy.

Our soaps, like the Kawakawa & Lavender Bar, are made with gentle, nourishing ingredients that cleanse without compromising your skin’s barrier.

🧶 3. Dress Your Soap in a Jersey

We like to say our soaps wear jerseys in winter – thanks to our Soap Savers. Crafted out of 70% Bamboo and 30% Cotton, these natural pouches help:
Extend the life of your bar
Provide gentle exfoliation
Prevent small, slippery soap slivers from going to waste

〰️ 4. Keep It Thick & Simple

In winter, switch to thicker, fragrance-free creams that support the skin barrier. Layer generously after bathing to lock in hydration while your skin is still damp, we love our decadent Kawakawa Body Butter for this one .

Stay warm, stay groovy, and we’ll see you next month 🌿
